A year ago today, I picked up Genevieve and Eloise. They had different names, Wynonna and Loretta, respectively. I wanted French names, not ones that sounded like characters in a Western. Genevieve is named after a passing fancy from my university days. Eloise because it’s just a lovely name.

Today, we set things up at Aro Market. That’s really about it. After that, we grabbed some lunch, picked up some cat food, and then came home. I tinkered with some 3D printing – I’ve been trying to make some SANA Stationery & Gifts “coins.”

I can’t think of much else to write tonight so I’ll use a writing prompt.

Some days are slower than others. Today, we took a pedal boat around the lagoon at Bowness Park. We were never moving too fast. For an hour, without any gusto, we pedalled.

Despite growing up only a couple of hours away, I’ve never been to the tea house at the end of the hike around Lake Louise. Today we made the hike.

In PEI, we went to the original Cows Creamery. We waited in line to get ice cream twice. It was good. I usually get a fruit flavour, which I did on the first occasion, but I branched out and got one maple flavoured scoop and one scoop of a caramel flavour the second time. That’s what makes vacations nice — they get you out of your routine.

On the plane, I asked Hannah if I was going home or to my hometown. She said that it’d be my hometown because it’s the place where I grew up. Where I live now, Toronto, is my home. She then asked me if Toronto feels like home. I said that it doesn’t quite, partly because we’re renting.

Waiting is busy at the airport. Standing in lines, repacking at security, sitting at the gate. Remaining aware keeps you busy.

I woke up on the couch at 4:00 am and made my way to bed. At 7:00 the cats wanted breakfast. I tried going back to sleep. I almost started missing the days when I would sleep clean through the morning and into the middle of the afternoon.

I must’ve gone on for at least half an hour, if not 45-minutes, while we were driving back from PEI, about whether I should post links to my blog posts on my Instagram Stories. It’s been on my mind for about a week. Every time I ran through an argument, I ended up at the same conclusion: I don’t know.

I swam in the Atlantic Ocean today for the first time. Yesterday, we dipped our feet in but today we went all in. It’s quite salty.

I rotated my tires today. Six tire changes took place. I kept wishing I had just paid the guy to do it when I went in for an oil change.

I want to make a bowl tomorrow but I don’t think I’ll be able to. I mean, I could, of course, but then other things, perhaps more important things, wouldn’t get done. Not more important, just more urgent. Not more urgent in their gravity but in their scheduled order. Essentially, I’d miss some deadlines if I were to work on something other than pens right now.
