  • My Car is Now Registered in Ontario *tear*

A little while back I wrote about my experience at the registry, while getting my Ontario driving licence. Well, folks, it arrived today, along with my insurance papers. I also got my plates today. (more…)

  • Getting My Driving Licence, Again

I got my first car on March 17, 2007. Eight years later, to the day, I gave up my Alberta licence for an Ontario one. It made me a little sad. (more…)

  • Oh, To Live in Toronto

    Oh, To Live in Toronto

I moved to Toronto because I want to live in Toronto. For the last little while, it would seem that all I do is work in Toronto. This is problematic because I am, very much, someone who enjoys leisure. (more…)

  • My Maa Helped Me Move to Toronto

I made it. After two, rather long, weeks, I’m finally settled in Toronto. I dropped my mom off at the airport this evening, after her two-week stay. You see, she came out to help me move. (more…)

  • Eight Trips to Toronto, in Ten Days

Eight Trips to Toronto, in Ten Days

Over the last ten days I have made eight trips to Toronto. For those of you who are counting, one way is approximately 134 km (according to the signage on the highway, and depending where in the city I’m going), which can take anywhere from one and a quarter to over-three hours. During the summer months, I can squeeze 600 km out of a full tank, which costs about $65-70 to fill. Factor in traffic, and, um, aggressive driving behaviour, and it takes about one half tank to make a round trip.

Where are we on the math? A lot of money on gas, and a lot of time spent sitting in my car. Square? (more…)

  • Upcoming: Tales Of and From Mariposa

During the last week, I have been looking for apartments in Toronto. It’s never fun looking for apartments, especially in Toronto. The pictures on the websites often don’t match the actual state of the unit, and the listed prices are, at best, relatively close but still less than what you’re actually going to pay each month. (more…)

  • Two-Year Anniversary

Tomorrow, June 4, 2014, marks an interesting anniversary in my life. It was two years ago tomorrow that I decided to finally move to Toronto, and start making a life for myself. (more…)

  • A Woman Wearing a Sun Hat Sitting Atop the Hill

On Saturday afternoon, my friends and I went to Christie Pits Park in Toronto. We dropped our bikes and belongings down about half way up a hill, close to the corner of Bloor Street West and Christie Street. That’s also where we sat, for over five hours, or something like that. (more…)

  • Looking for a Good Time? Call Me

The last two months of my life have been absolutely nuts. I mean, it’s just been crazy. But, it has all rounded out fantastically.

I started my second teaching practicum placement six weeks ago. A few weeks before then, I met a girl down in Toronto. Two weeks into the placement, I had an interview with the Toronto District School Board. Sometime in there, I accepted a teaching position in the UK. This past Saturday was my thirty-first birthday. The girl decided it wasn’t worth the effort, and the waiting, a couple of weeks ago. (more…)

  • Oh, Toronto

When I’m in Mariposa, I enjoy the town, and its quiet and routine. I enjoy the countryesque lifestyle. The people here are friendly and welcoming. Everything is just, nice. That is, until I visit Toronto. (more…)
