My dad called this afternoon after he heard the news about Ontario increasing restrictions to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19. I thought the announcement happened at one o’clock in the afternoon; I spoke with him at around three. Maybe the news took a while to get to him. We are in different time zones.

Not too long ago, I purchased a new desk chair. I made sure to spend some money on one that I think will last a long time and will match the colour scheme I’m aiming for. And, it hasn’t disappointed. In fact, it’s better than I expected.

How Many? How Much?
I knew that weddings are expensive but I didn’t realise how expensive they are until I was responsible for paying my share of one. Every cost is multiplied by the number of people who attend. And, and!, you’re treating them! It’s like you forgot to get drunk but are still willing to buy another round for everyone at your table, and for the rest of the bar.

Riel is Teaching Me About Work-Life Balance
It happens nearly every time I sit down at my desk to do some work. It won’t take five minutes for Riel to jump up on my desk, take a quick scan, and then lay down directly on top of whatever I’m working on. Even if I’m sitting on my recliner staring at my iPad or iPhone, Riel will jump up on the arm of the chair, sus out the situation, and then step on my crotch and start rubbing his cheeks on whatever device I’m working on. I was stood there for at least 35 minutes, staring at the range of choices available to me, unable to make a decision. Each choice I was given offered different options: scouring, non-abrasive, non-stick, heavy duty, pots and pans, etc. Often, it’s the easiest decisions that are the hardest to make. (more…)
