I have to get better about these posts. Sitting down to write them earlier in the day would likely help. Maybe there’s a way for me to work on them throughout the day or something. Whatever it is, I have to figure it out because these little posts aren’t cutting it.

A little while ago, I was thinking about doing some research into the notion of model minorities. The idea of writing some personal essays on the topic interests me. For right now, it’s another project that I can’t take on.
I was thinking about how – who – sets the standards which I measure my success by. As a model minority, it’s the achievement of someone else’s – the majority – standard that marks success. This, however, isn’t a complete telling of the nature of the objectives.
I need to think more on this.

Time is just getting away from me lately. I feel like I’ve written this before. There does seem to also be some sort deja vu aspect to my life these days. I need to find my register.

My mind is in project mode right now. I’m trying to figure out a pattern for a blanket I want to crochet, the best way to design the chassis and wheel base for a sail car, and what pen rest I want to make with eco-resin. Throughout the day, my mind floats between these projects, never quite settling on one.

Today, again, got away from me a bit. I did get to the shop, for the first time in nearly a month, and it was great. I played with some ideas, accomplishing a fair bit but getting very little done. It’s amazing what that space affords me.

Hannah tells me that people ask her what it’s like to live with a boy.
She says that this picture sums it up best:

This is me, in the bathroom, running the laser engraver.
There’s a pile of my laundry on the floor next to my side of the bed. Until she explained to me that the second drawer in the kitchen is for the sharp utensils, I couldn’t ever find the scissors. The third drawer has ladles and whisks and such. The top drawer has the cutlery. It’s the only drawer I’ve gotten a grasp of.
I like to let the sink fill up before things in the dishwasher. She prefers to put items in individually. I organize the dishwasher when I put the dishes in it. She doesn’t. We agreed early on that if I’m going to complain, I should just do it myself. So, I keep my mouth shut. She does the laundry at least once a day, mixing all manner of clothing items of various materials and colours. I’ve not run out of clean underwear, socks, or t-shirts since we started living together.
I do often follow through on an urge to poke her, anywhere really but I usually aim for an orifice. Sometimes, I just lick her cheek because I thought about doing it. Of course, I give her a little pat on the bottom every time I walk by.
Somehow, though, this is the picture that best sums things up.

I’m forever asking Hannah if she can see my boobs through the shirt I’m wearing. I hold them like they need to be supported while asking. Every time, she says that she can’t. “Really? You can’t see my moobs?”

I was working away at a few things today.

I put the first coat of wipe-on poly on the bookshelf. Finished turning a bowl. Made a handle for the crochet kit and filmed it for Monday’s video.
Once these things are wrapped up, I’ve got a few more things to get started on, like yarn bowls, some resin projects, and getting some pens turned before the holidays.
It feels good to feel like I’m making progress.

I learned something about myself today that I already knew. See, I was given the day to clean a room of the library. Just the one room. It was a mess, filled with loose cables and broken computers. Spending the day working on just the one task reminded me of how I work best when I’m given time to focus.

When we were growing up, my dad had a section of the basement cordoned off with a brown curtain. My sister and I were not allowed there. Nothing nefarious was taking place – my dad used to have a side-hustle repairing electronics.

When I started writing these near-daily posts, I agreed with myself that I wouldn’t work too hard at them. Some days, all I’ll post is a picture or a quick thought. Other days, I’ll put something more in depth together. Today is going to be a quick day.
