I was thinking about a philosophy based on woodworking while I was working at the lathe today. Surely, one must already exist. Woodworkers strike me as the type of people who are introspective and critical of themselves and the world. The craft is driven by precision, so much so that it lends itself to a systematic worldview.

When I was studying Philosophy, I remember proudly proclaiming that I loved living in a world of ideas. I wanted to stay in that world forever. I believed that that’s where I belonged.

Reading philosophy is breaking my brain
Reading is a skill. You have to keep practicing it or you’ll lose your ability to do it well. Of course, you’ll remember the fundamentals when you pick it up again, but it’ll be more difficult. Reading is worth the work, though.
