Prompt: Write about a habit that is changing you.
Alright, the prompt for today, July 26th, 2026, is: Write about a habit that is changing you.
I think it’s this one: this audio journal, this daily recording.
I used to enjoy blogging and writing things out, but when I hurt my wrist that became too difficult. That’s when I started this audio journal, and I think I actually prefer this format.
What it’s changing is that it’s giving me an opportunity every day to sit down for five minutes or so and think about one thing in particular—one small part of the day or one part of my life—and then just ramble about it. I tend to ramble anyway, so this is a pretty good outlet for that. I’m not too upset about it.
Having ChatGPT clean up the transcript and offer a reflection has also been interesting. It often points out things I hadn’t considered. While I understand that it’s not a person, I do think one thing AI excels at is bringing information together and recognizing patterns. Those reflections often highlight similarities across the past couple of months of journal entries and suggest possible connections between them. I can’t think of a specific example off the top of my head right now, but it’s been valuable.
So yes, I think this habit of keeping an audio journal is genuinely helping.
I’d encourage other people to try it, even if they never publish it anywhere. Just having some form of journal can be worthwhile. I think the act of recording your thoughts is helpful, even if you never read them again and no one else ever sees them. Somehow, simply keeping those thoughts preserves them.

I’d also love to hear your thoughts on this prompt—or any of the others. Feel free to leave a comment or share a link to your own blog, audio journal, or whatever form your reflections take, and I’ll be sure to check it out.
Alright, folks. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
This transcript was lightly cleaned up with the help of AI to improve readability while preserving the original voice and intent of the recording.
