Prompt: Write about what keeps you moving forward.
All right, the prompt for today, July 15th, 2026, is: Write about what keeps you moving forward.
I think it’s ultimately curiosity. I’m just endlessly curious about things. I want to learn, I want to try, and I want to figure things out.
But I will say that when things get too difficult, or I find something hard, or I become anxious or nervous, then I stop.
I guess with my writing in particular, or even with sharing this audio journal, I’ll do it—but only to a certain extent. I’ll stay within my comfort zone, which I don’t ultimately like.
I guess what I’m saying is that I try many different things, but there’s a limit. I might move to the edge of a circle and then come back to the centre, then move to the edge again, but at a different angle.
I don’t know. It’s not a tangent. What would that be called? Not an arc… Anyway—a spoke. We’ll just call it a spoke. I’ll go down a spoke until I reach the end of my comfort zone, then return to the center.
I think that’s problematic. I think that’s the limit of my perseverance. I persevere only so far.
So do I keep moving forward? I guess that’s the question I’m asking. If I’m constantly returning, am I actually progressing?
I think, in some senses, yes, because I’m learning more. And if you want to continue the analogy, maybe the wheel is getting stronger, staying truer, something to that effect.
But I don’t know that it’s actually turning in the forward direction. And I guess that’s the problem.
So what could I do about that?
I think the big thing is just overcoming that discomfort—or facing it head-on. Trying despite it. Appreciating that risk involves loss, and that not everything you do is going to be a winner.
And that’s okay, because you did it anyway.
But that’s a difficult one for me.
I do like the slots and the ponies, but I don’t really gamble that often.
So I think if I were to change one thing, it would be to push past the limits of my comfort and then call thatperseverance.
To define perseverance as something that begins when comfort ends.
Yeah.
Right on. So I guess I have to burst my tires.
Dangerous stuff.
Right on. You can find this prompt and more at LettersLounge.com. Of course, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this or any of the other posts, so please do leave a comment or a link to your blog, audio journal, or whatever it happens to be. I’ll be sure to check it out.
All right, folks. I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Bye.
