Prompt: Write about what your anger has taught you.
What is it that gets your heart racing so fast that you get tunnel vision and steam coming off the back of your neck?
Today, the prompt for July 6th, 2026 is: Write about what anger has taught you.
I think one of the things that anger has taught me is that I have a really hard time managing it. But more than that, I think I’ve mentioned before that I do get very angry in certain situations, especially when it comes to driving. And I think what’s underlying that is this feeling of being cheated. If I feel in any way that I’m being taken advantage of or disrespected, then I get incredibly angry.
The road is one of those places where I think people forget that there are other people in those vehicles. And I’m not saying I’m perfect or that I haven’t made my fair share of mistakes. But yeah, it is one of those places where I get angry.
I think what anger stops me from doing is empathizing or understanding the position the other person is in. For me, anger becomes an internal reflection. All I see is myself reflected back, and the injustice I feel has been committed against me. I can’t really open myself up to anything else until I’ve had a chance to calm down.
Yeah… I don’t know how to manage that, unfortunately. I try my darndest sometimes, but I’ll tell you, it doesn’t always work.
I do think anger shows you what you care most about, because we don’t think about happiness in the same way. Nobody ever… well, I mean, I find extremely happy people annoying sometimes, but I don’t find them infuriating in the way that I do when somebody angers me or I feel cheated.
Yeah. I don’t know. I don’t know what else to say about anger. In terms of what it’s taught me, I’ll have to think more on this one. But I definitely know that it has shown me I am entirely capable of losing control. And that’s not always a good thing.
Right on.
