Today’s Prompt: Where do you feel most connected — to others, to yourself, or to the world around you?
I want to say that feeling connected to others starts with a connection to yourself. Until you understand who you are, can you draw lines connecting yourself to others? I don’t know. If this is true, than there are few places where I feel connected. One, of course, is at home with my family. One step outside over the threshold and that feeling becomes capricious.
It could be that there’s too much unpredictability in spaces that aren’t my own. Even when people enter my spaces, such as my classroom, I start to feel somewhat anxious. I’ve learned how to deal with it, but there are times when I’m still put on edge. In spaces that aren’t mine, I have no control and must let go. Still, not easy.
Maybe blogging is one way that I try to feel connected to others. In revealing my thoughts and stories, I’m trying to open up and let people in to see parts of my inner world. I retain some control.
