We’re down to one poäng chair in the living room. It was in our bedroom, after being in the room that is now the nursery. I bought it several years ago, when I was still living on my own, but haven’t really spent much time sitting in it. Genevieve kind of capitalized it.

At the old place, she would sit in it. Her and Eloise would sometimes cuddle up together on it. They’d clean each other and then start wrestling. It was adorable.

When it was in the room that is now the nursery, she ruled over it. Ouli would sometimes get his chance in the chair. I don’t really remember Eloise sitting in it. Lately, she’s been taking naps in the bassinet. From the way she wavers out of there, she must be getting a deep sleep.

We bought a brand new couch almost a year ago. Hannah’s sister took it when she moved. She took a lot of our furniture, actually. We’re thankful to her for putting it to good use. We needed an excuse to get rid of a few things and refresh the place. I’m looking forward to building some of the furniture.

The story of this chair is on my mind tonight because, as I sit in it, typing up this post, I’m also thinking back to those Friday nights when I’d swing my legs up, put a pillow behind my head, and settle in for the evening. Inevitably, I’d fall asleep.

Salvador Dali used to nap in a chair with a spoon in his hand and a bowl at his feet. When the spoon fell and hit the bowl, it’d startle him awake and inspired.
