I’m feeling pretty lazy tonight so writing this post feels like a bit of a chore. I don’t want to make a habit out of writing these stupid posts just to keep my daily-posting streak going, but there are going to be a good few more of these.

One thing that really struck me today was how some parents didn’t label their child’s things. I’m talking about kindergarten students, not grade eights. Actually, mightn’t matter the age.

The story is that I was helping a kindergarten class during dismissal. It’s the second day of school and I’ve forgotten all of their names. Before their parents pick them up, we ask that they put on their bags and sit on the carpet. Before putting on their bags, they must pack them. Before packing anything, you have to know where it is. Mix in some exceptionalities and English language learners, and you’ve got a real treat.

Putting labels on your child’s belongings helps a bunch. Even if I don’t know who you child is yet, I can still help them by put their things together.
